For the most accurate baseline, we gently ask that you pause any calcium supplements 24 hours prior to your scan. Undigested calcium can temporarily masquerade as bone density. Rest assured, your routine vitamins and daily medications can be taken exactly as prescribed.
If you have recently undergone imaging involving barium, nuclear medicine, or contrast dyes, please allow a gentle two-week window before your DEXA scan. This buffer ensures your results remain pristine and completely unaffected by lingering materials from other tests.
Your safety is our absolute priority. While DEXA scans utilize a minimal amount of radiation—far less than a standard X-ray—they are not performed during pregnancy as a strict standard of care. If there is any possibility you may be pregnant, please inform our care team prior to your visit.
